How to Wake up Early for Ramadhan

Waking up early is essential in the month of Ramadhan. If you don't manage to wake up early, you may miss your Sahur and "starve" for the rest of the day. Not to forget, performing your fajar/subuh prayers is a great way to start your day. Here are 4 useful tips on how to wake up early in the month of Ramadhan.
Start Practising before the Fasting Month
If you practice to wake up early before the fasting month itself, you would condition your body to prepare for Ramadhan. Most of us may wake up in time for our fajar/subuh prayers. However we have to end our Sahur 10 minutes before Fajar(Subuh) which is earlier than the time we are used to wake up.
Sleep Earlier
With all the good tv series starting at 10 pm each night, it is not easy to sleep early. It is recommended to sleep for a good 8 hours each day. Let's say you want to wake up at 5 am, you would have to be in bed by 9pm. Set a reminder or an alarm to inform you that it is already 9 pm and you need to sleep. (If you use your alarm clock to remind you, remember to set it back to 5 am before you sleep.)
Put Your Alarm Clock Away from You
Placing the alarm clock further will make you move from your bed to turn it off instead of just hitting the snooze button. When putting the alarm clock away from you, make sure the alarm is audible enough to wake you up. Note: It is better to experiment this technique before Ramadhan.
Niyyah/Niat
For a fast to be valid, an intention (niyyah) must be made beforehand. When we intend to wake up for Sahur and set our mind to it, Insya'Allah we succeed.
