Bubur Masjid

Bubur Masjid is a porridge dish usually cooked and distributed in mosques during Ramadhan after Asar prayer. It is spicy because condiments such as cinnamon sticks, cardamoms and anise stars are added for a unique taste.

The porridge is prepare in few big pots by volunteers at the mosque compound every day in fasting month for breakfast purposes both at home and in the mosque.

The main purpose the porridge is for it to be distributed to the underprivileged. However, nowadays regardless of one's financial status, everyone is entitled to a packet of Bubur Masjid and it is distributed on a first come first serve basis. Thus, you can see a long queue at mosques with some of them holding 'big' food containers...
